Create a new Data Source based on a database. You’ll need to add a new connection too. Since you installed dotConnect, SQLite should appear as an option when you add the new connection. Locate and select the database TheBooks.db. Save the connection as TheBooksConnectionString, if you’d like.
Then select the Clients tables and call the dataset DSClients.
Well, that didn’t work so well. For some reason, I get this error. Curiously, the error depends on which table I select, and in fact, that sqlite_sequence table, which I did not create, attaches just fine, without error. It’s not really a big deal because I’ve verified that I can create an empty dataset and then add Table Adapters.
I wonder if it has to do with the name “main” or if there’s some compatibility issue between SQLite Studio and dotConnect.
After some googling, I found an answer that applies to the same kind of ADO.NET provider, but for PostgreSQL instead of SQLite. “Data Source Configuration Wizard returns a ‘Unable to parse query text.’ when attempting to add a datasource with a table selected with the NpgsqlDdexProvider 3.1 (npgsql 3.1.8) – VS2015” – #1313 The suggested workaround is to create an empty dataset and then add TableAdapters.
